So rainy season had started and we were planning for quick trek to some nearby fort. After some googling we shortlisted Rohida fort also called Vichitragad as our trek plan on 23rd July 2016. This fort is near bhor about 65km from Pune. Rohida is accessible by state transport bus which has good connectivity till Bhor from Pune swargate bus stand, but we prefer to have a bike ride till the base village Bajarwadi. The trekking path starts from the hillock west of the Bajarwadi Highschool. The route is very safe and wide. There are no trees on the trekking route.

Pune and Mumbai is blessed with many gateways nearby and Raigad Fort is one of them. History of Raigad is very fascinating. The used to be the capital of Maratha Empire of The Great Shivaji Maharaj. We happened to trek this wonderful fort on a rainy day of july 26, 2014. Raigad is a fort located in the Raigad district of Maharashtra State. The fort is located at a height of approx 2,700 ft above sea level. Raigad Fort served as the capital of Maratha Empire from 1674 AD. This fort is strategically perched atop a wedge-shaped block of hill, split off from the Western Ghats and is inaccessible from three sides.

The fort, which rises 820 metres (4400 ft) above sea level, is located in the Sahyadri mountain range. There are approximately 1737 steps leading to the fort, today we have ropeway also available to reach top of fort. Raigad truly is trekkers paradise with many waterfalls en route trek path.
